Matters of death grab attention.
Reading John 12: 20-33
Most people used to look in the birth, deaths and marriages pages of the Sheffield Star newspaper to see if they know anyone mentioned. In John 11 before the reading Lazarus rises in his death robes. Attention grabbing.
Passover couldn't hold a candle to what Jesus had done and the Pharisees were troubled that everyone would follow Jesu and they would lose their authority .
John 11:44 the Romans would not tolerate insurrection.
No longer enough to just see Jesus, the crowd needed to follow him BUT Jesus said we cannot follow him everywhere. He will prepare a place for us. All this before he is to be crucified. We will follow at this time of Easter

In view of impending Mothering Sunday, originally to remember 'Mother Church' Suzanne spoke of Mary and Martha.
Reading  Luke 10:38-42
Martha asks Jesus "Dont you care?" (that she had been left to do all the work).
A question sometimes posed to us is "Are you a Mary or a Martha?" referring to Mary sitting at Jesus feet whilst Martha is is looking after the home and being the perfect host meeting everyone's needs.
Do we show faith through our actions but is it at the cost of sitting at the feet of our Lord?
We must breathe, listen and only then DO!
