Sunday service with Rev Suzanne Nockels – 14th January 24
Suzanne asked how our New Years Resolutions were holding up? Are we doing things differently in 2024?
She chose t look at the Baptism of Jesus where John who was baptising the populous suddenly coming face to face with the Lord and we hear God praising his son yet at this point Jesus had not done anything extra ordinary in his time on earth. Why is God so pleased? This should be our motivation that God loves us before we do anything. Reading Jonah 3:1-4:4 – Destruction of Nineveh Nineveh a huge city where a foreign pagan violent people live causing Jonah to travel in the opposite direction to avoid them. He loathes them. Jonah enters Nineveh and converts all the pagans despite his hatred of them. Do we consider Gods love is open to everyone even if we don’t have a love for all. Leading up to the day of Atonement, Jewish people will visit friends family and acquaintances and ask if they have wronged them in the last year and ask for Gods forgiveness for their words, actions etc. Members of Tapton joined with residents from Kings Court to be treated to drinks and refreshments before Mary opened the study with a passage from John 1:1-5.
We then looked at a number of prophecies about Jesus referenced in both the Old and New Testament. Half a dozen players enjoyed a good post Christmas knock about
It was good to see a full church for this special service followed by refreshments
