Rev Suzanne had the congregation playing Simon says but used the phrases Jesus says and the Pharisees say. We had to follow the Jesus actions but ignore what the Pharisees say.
Reading Mark 2:36 -3:6 Two occasions when Jesus came into conflict with the Pharisees - In the cornfield and the Temple. Travelling through & plucking the grain from the grain field and healing the mans withered hand were not permitted on the Sabbath by the Pharisees based on Exodus 20:8. Jesus disagrees as he sees the bigger picture referring to Samuel and David fleeing Saul. Jesus makes it clear that it was mot just restoring the disability but whole life. The story highlights God's compassion. enjoyed by a number of Tapton church members
A celebration of Whitsuntide with many of the old whit songs thoroughly enjoyed by a number of our congregation.
Suzanne introduced the congregation to icons. Icons are not used in Congregational churches but are used in the Orthodox churches that share our building.
