Readings: John 2 The wedding at Cana
Galations :5 c 22 “The fruits of the Spirit are love, JOY, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Thessalonians : 5 “Be joyful always”
Christmas has been a season of Joy but is joy reflected in our church life? Do problems in the church and in the world outside take precedence over our joy?? How often do we give thanks for God’s gifts and ask for his help with the homeless and helpless and sick but do not give thanks for those who bring us joy those who make us laugh, or give us pleasure – the artist, the author, the actor etc..??
Jesus would want us to care for others but he would want us to be joyful – he had charisma he must have – why else would thousands of people turn up to listen to him speak (Matthew 14)
Jesus was active – he did things – he brought pleasure (the wedding at Cana).
Faith should be joyful
John 15 v ll “I have told you this so my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete”
We CANNOT we MUST NOT be miserable in our faith in our showing of the love of Christ if we are this will reflect on those around us – those outside who judge us – our life in the Church.
WE MUST HAVE J O Y
