LAST NIGHT OF THE PROMS with Loxley Silver band

Despite the inconvenience caused by Tapton Hill Road being closed due to a water burst our spirits were lifted when we entered the church which was well lit (new lighting) and welcoming with bunting, balloons and flags everywhere, this set the scene for what was to be a wonderful evening of music from the Loxley Silver Band and their Musical Director Lee Dunkley who played music from films “Over the Rainbow” & “633 Squadron” music from shows “Love changes everything” & “I don’t know how to love Him” also the “Radestsky March” etc. There were four instrumental soloists who all played so beautifully, the youngest being Jacob who at the age of 13 thrilled us all with an instrumental solo in “Little Red Bird”.
The evening was brought to a patriotic conclusion with “Rule Brittania”, “Jerusalem” and “Land of Hope & Glory” a lot of audience participation with flag waving, balloons and clapping.
What an uplifting, ceiling-raising event it was – thanks to everyone who helped, to the band for coming, to the soloists for making it special, and lastly to all who came and supported us.
