Sunday worship 18th November 2018

Led by Rev. Suzanne Nockels

Readings:  Exodus 3 & 4  /  Ezekiel 18: 1-7  / John 9: 1-5

Theme –  Excuses, excuses!

We have all made excuses to avoid doing something we didn’t want. In Exodus we read of Moses and despite being told God would be alongside him, we read of the excuses he used not do God’s will.  Eventually on telling the truth God allows him to be accompanied by Aaron.

Suzanne asked us to consider doing a small thing for God without trying to excuse ourselves.

The sermon considered the ‘generation gap’.

In Ezekiel we read of the proverb used by the Israelites to highlight the generation gap. What do children pick up from their parents. Older generations make choices which can impact on their children and grandchildren but punishment for sin is not an heirloom to be handed down.  Similarly spiritual righteousness cannot be passed down, we need to find our own here and now.

As with Moses, remember God is beside us in everything we do.
