Palm Sunday service

Organised and led by John Silverton our organist

Readings: Luke 19 vv. 28-40,  Isaiah 50 vv. 4-7,  Phillipians 2 vv. 5-11

Starting outside church with our palm crosses we entered church to be taken  with hymns and readings through the journey of Jesus into Jerusalem and betrayal by Judas followed by rejection by the crowd “Crucify him” they cried.

John also informed us about the Roman Alexamenos graffitti, allegedly the earliest surviving picture of Christ. The Greek inscription seems to mock a young man worshipping a crucified, donkey headed God figure.
