Sunday worship 3rd April 2016

Led by Jonathan Youdan

Readings: Isaiah 42 v10-16 & Luke 24 v13ff

Jonathan suggested the one story he may take onto a desert island is the story of Jesus on the road to Emmaus.

On this occasion the disciples did not recognise Jesus though he knew who they were. Why would they recognise him? As far as they were concerned Jesus was dead.

He did not enlighten them until they invited him in for hospitality.

Jonathan referred to the readings in Revelations 3 v 20 and Genesis 3 v10. ‘Behold I stand at the door and knock’ & ‘ I heard of you in the garden but I was afraid as I was naked’.

We need to recognise the signs and open the door to God not only when we want something, but there is a price to pay. It will result in change and we must be prepared to embrace that change.
