Sunday worship 20 September 2015

Led by Jonathan Youdan

Readings: Isaiah 52 v7-12; Philippians 4v 1-9; John 14 v15

Jonathan related the current troubles in the world to those being experienced 2,500 years ago. News of peace was welcomed as good news and all proclaimers of peace are welcome.

The Old Testament prophets were looking forward to a time of peace.

Isaiah was more aligned to the definition of Peace = Freedom from disturbance/tranquility with Micah nearer the definition of no war/law and order.

The church at Philippi was a troubled place and was expected to show a spirit of unity.

We read of a peace that passeth understanding, something greater than we can understand something our faith can bring us.
