A Present…. what’s in the box ?
What would you put in the box for a family member? a friend? your enemy?
Matthew 5 39-48 Jesus said “Love your enemy”
Leviticus 19 11-18 says almost the same thing saying the rule of an eye for an eye tit for tat should not apply
In English there is only one word love but it can mean different things. Affection, caring, sharing, benevolence.
Jesus could see some good in everyone, even his enemies, he showed them all love in one way or another.
Go out and try … try to become the person you would really like to be. Try to be more like Jesus – use your own interpretation of the word “love” you will be surprised at the result.

Are you A half full or half empty person ???
Mark told us the story of King Ahab and his wife Jezebel. God was angry that Ahab followed what his wife said and not what God had said and he asked Elijah to talk to her and the story continued This showed us that God will provide for his own wherever or whoever we are. The widow’s jars were never empty after Elijah stayed with her.
Reading John 2 v l
The changing of water to wine
A different interpretation this week of the same story as last week.
The wine ran out – the vessels were empty
and then filled with water which Jesus turned into fine wine.
Some things are impossible for us to do but not for God or His son.
It takes many months for us to make wine from picking the grape to maturing but Jesus did it in a flash –
It takes a long time for a sinner to become a saint but Jesus can do it in a flash.
Not one of us can do this.
Jesus was giving a sign as to who He was – it was serious to fail in hospitality but he came to their aid.
John says “What Jesus did in Cana was the first of the signs through which he revealed His glory”
God is eternal He lives out of time
We are ruled by the clock
Jesus is not confined by time He can do things in an instant
When we answer His call we become sons of God
Those who do not believe are empty vessels – but he can fill them f they ask and believe.

The wedding at Cana
Memories – we all have memories. Sometimes these are of an event where something was going wrong and someone stepped in and saved the day. Susannah told us two stories of such evenst in her life.
At the wedding in Cana the wine was running out – Mary knew the power of her son and told the servants to obey and put his words into action – and saved the day.
Do we obey when Jesus speaks to us ? Do we put his words into actions? If we were the servants at the time would we have obeyed Him?
Jesus had no need to touch anything, no need for prayer at this time His power was enough – but he needed to be obeyed.
He still has this power – listen for his voice and obey Him.

Readnig : Matthew 25 31-46
What do you think Jesus looks like ?? We all have our own thoughts on this and no one will ever know who is right – BUT we do know what Jesus said :
“…He will sit on His glorious throne All the people will be gathered before Him and he will separate the sheep from the goats ….”
We have to decide are we with the sheep or the goats ?? Could we be part of either ?

He then went on to say “For I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you took me in, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you cared for me, I was in prison and you visited me”. When asked what he meant He said – “whenever you have done this for the least of brothers and sisters, you did it for me”
We do not need to know what Jesus looked like – He is with us all the time and whatever we do to help anyone, we do it for Him.
