Leader Rev. Chris Damp
Readings l Corinthians 12 1-11
WE are the body of Christ with our different abilities and gifts.
2 John 2 1 – 11
Water into wine
Jesus was a guest at the wedding but was able to help in the crisis when the wine ran out – he is there for us when we have a crisis.
He shares human life and through him we see the Glory of God.
Jesus and Joy
Life, healing and frienship come from him. BUT he waits to be invited – he stands at the door and knocks – it is up to us whether we open the door – he will not gatecrash. The obedience he expects is hard but it brings liberty from burdens – throw open your hearts and lives and welcome Jesus. Let him live with you as your guest and you will not regret it.

Leader : Edwin Ashforth
Readings: Mark 16 v 1 – 3
Luke 24 v 8 – 11
Mary Magdalene
Women had no status at this time yet Jesus put Mary first more than once. Luke names all women and this was significant at the time. By Jewish Law the oldest was named first in a list of names and Mary Magdalene was first so we assume by that she was not, as is so often shown in art and literature, a young girl but must have been much older. Even the Bronte sisters had to use male names to have their books accepted.
Mary Magdalene was one of the women who used their own means to clothe and feed Jesus. She was one of the women at the foot of the cross when the men were afraid of the Romans thinking they were associated with Jeus and she was first at the tomb.
She was also the one to whom Jesus appeared in the garden and who he empowered to “GO AND TELL” It is up to us all, female or male to do as he commands and go forth and tell.

JUST TO REMIND YOU

Leader: Glynn Jones (and his monkey puppet Oscar)
oscar was downhearted because his friends had let him down – he had to learn to love and forgive.
Reading: John 21 v1 – 19
Jesus forgave when his friends let him down
The 3rd time Jesus appeared after being raised from death he asked Peter 3 times if he loved him. Peter was full of guilt after his 3 times denial of Jesus – but there is always a new beginning in Christ he will never give up on us he will forgive us if we face up to our past.
Love others if you truly love Jesus even if this is costly.

Sunday, April 7th, 2013

Leader: Brenda Emms
Readings: Numbers 21 1 – 9
people get impatient
John 3 1 – 21
Man has to die and be born again. Nicodemus came to Jesus because he wanted to know and to understand. Do we want to know – do we want to understand and to believe??
Jesus is Love – is it evident in us that we love Jesus and he loves us?? For God so loved the world that he gave his only son – love changes everything. The empty cross – to die and be born again.
