1 Corinthians Ch.13 we spent a long time discussing this chapter and how it relates to our own lives and church life. How easy it is to love those nearerst and dearest but difficult to love those we do not like. We must try harder in our everyday living to show love to all we meet. The final line “These three remain – faith hope and love, but the greatest of these is love”
Leader Susannah Youdon
Readings ; Exodus 3 v 1-12
John14 v 1 -31
“Talking”
God’s first words to man were “Let there be light” and there was light
He also spoke to Eve, Moses, The Three Wise Men, and Samuel. All obeyed – where would we be today if they had not.
When Jesus spoke nothing was written down – no telephones, no televisions, all was spread around by word of mouth – talking is so important – we all like to talk – do we like to listen?
Thoughts for the week
Is God speaking to you?
Do you take time to listen?
The next church meeting will be held at 7pm 21 February
Leader Roy Davison
Readings: Deuteronomy 26 1-11
Luke 4 1-10
Text : Romans 10 8-9
Jesus went into the wilderness for 40 days and when he was at a low ebb due to lack of food and water the devil tempted him by offering food and water and power but Jesus was strong in spirit and resisted – the devil is still in the world today – he is sneaky and comes to us when we are at a low ebb – are we strong in spirit?can we resist him? The challenge laid down by Roy was “use this period of Lent to truly give your all to God”
A talk about J G Graves given by Mike Spick was well attended and extremely interesting. We look forward to more talks and events during our centenary year and hope all will be as enjoyable as today. We apologise for giving Mike an incorrect surname previously.
Wednesday 13th February

Come and hear about the life of John George Graves (1866-1945) local businessman, politician and, most importantly to us now, a munificent philanthropist for Sheffield.
Pay on the door £3
Led by Jonathan Youden
Readings: 1 Corinthians 1 v18-25 – Genesis 6 v 5-23 and 7 v1-15
Considered the story of Noah in Genesis in relation to the 21st Century. He questioned if we believe we have received a message from God, is it spiritual fruit or will we be considered religious nuts?
To be held again this Thursday at 11.30am in the church hall – subject to weather conditions improving.
This is a social gathering with soup and a roll followed by cheese and biscuits and cake.
Usually attended by around 20 people over 50 yrs of age.
There is usually a speaker or entertainment but this week is DIY entertainment, probably with bingo etc
Everyone welcome
